came
across this Video of a PVC pipe bending technique that appears noticeably
different from the conventional method (heating with a heat gun).
This method involves heating the sand in an over first, then filling the pipe
with the sand.
The advantage of this is the heat is applied to the pipe
internally, so any marks to the plastic are internal.
Secondly the entire pipe is heated, allowing for a greater level the material
flow then the point heat applied via a heat gun, leading to more natural
appearing flowing curves
disadvantages;
Timing becomes critical; all bends must be done at once, as the heat will dissipate
and this could lead to incomplete bends.
Safety; to correctly use this bending method requires the sand to be very hot,
and handling it can be difficult. Safety equipment and preparation will be required.
This is certainly a technique I should look into and try out.
